HyperText Markup Language Explained

Charset

Beyond the common characters of UTF-7 (32 - 127) HTML uses a special coding system. This system can be encoded using an alpha or numeric entity. A entity character is introduced with an ampersand & then either a name follows or a # followed by a decimal number, this is then closed with a semi-colon ;.

Not all characters can be displayed on all users browsers, these characters have to be part of the underlying operating system & font. But, most do work nowadays.

HTML Character Entities - Extended Characters

So, here is a list of character entities along with a description. If some characters don't show then your operating system does not have a glyph for it. I have not included all the HTML 4 character set, just the ones I think are useful. For a full list you may wish to invest in a good HTML Book.
